The Feast Worldwide Comes to Social Week

Author: The Pivot Team

The world as we know it is changing. All of the familiar paradigms are in mid-shift, and it is bringing us to a tipping point, one either of planetary re-set or a new and thriving society. We stand to help tip us towards humanity.

What’s needed is global participation, and that only comes through opportunities to engage with others doing this work, models to support and learn from, and space to imagine and build these better options.

That’s what we strive to offer. The Feast is an attempt at creating a participatory, action-oriented invitation for anyone around the world to engage in social innovation. We want to offer as many people as humanly possible the opportunity to participate – because tipping towards humanity is going to take a mass effort and because, at its core, The Feast is about bringing together community in our efforts of making the world work better.

Thus, we created a special initiative called The Feast Worldwide.

One day each year – coinciding with the last day of our conference – The Feast Worldwide rallies thousands of people around the globe to come together to answer one question over dinner. On October 18th, Feasters around the world will have dinner with friends and ask one of the following questions.

1. Why is it so hard to turn what you learn at school into real-world skills?

2. Why is it so hard to be healthy every single day?

3. Why is it so hard to reintegrate into society after coming home from war?

Last year’s Feast Worldwide launched 500 dinners in cities such as Singapore, Nairobi and Auckland, bringing passionate people together over good food, great company, and meaningful discussion.

Amazing things grew out of simple dinners. The team in Singapore started The Hawker Sessions, galvanizing Feasters to improve the quality of life for the elderly by funding vital medical equipment. In Ottawa, they wanted to address the problem of hunger and pledged to raise money for the Foodbank. Another team in Abu Dhabi ran workshops to encourage labor-camp workers to start their own businesses.

Join us again this year on October 18, 2013 at http://worldwide.feastongood.com/.

Save the date & set the menu, the largest global dinner party for good is on.
